What is product design and industrial design and what are the differences between them?

What is product design? What is industrial design? How to distinguish them?

What is product design and industrial design and what are the differences between them?
Industrial designers are concerned with form (looks).

Product designers are concerned with function (operation).
Reply:Product design is usually tied to asthetics and product functional qualities. Industrial design is more to designing the product for fit of use, ergonomics.

Nowadays, the line between the 2 profession is blurring, due to the new generation of CAD machines that allows both to be simulated on screen, before its built. Toyota is a very good example of this. They can even simulate how the car is built in the production line, using computer models of workers and checking how they can reach and install the different parts.
