What is the difference between Architecture and Urban Design?

Can you study Urban Design at a University? And I also would like to know if there is any website that will give an outline of a building firm (for study references) including everything, from the Executive to the Construction Department. Thank you for any help :)

What is the difference between Architecture and Urban Design?
There is a big difference between both. In urban design one is dealing mostly with public spaces such as streets, parks etc. Urban design is concern about the design of cities and how they will function when people are inhabiting them.

Architecture focus on the design of buildings. Of course, when designing a building we need to look at the overall context of the place -- the site, the structures surrounding, etc. -- but the major preoccupation is with the building itself.

Most of the architecture schools will have an urban design program available. Take a look at these sites:

The structure of a building firm sometimes can vary greatly. Take a look at the website for the American Institute for Architects for clarification.

Reply:Building design and the layout of a town or place in a town like new building or expressway ! architecture is based on design and the look of a building not the plotting of it ....
Reply:Go to http://www.teach-me-architecture.com ...it’s a project that aims to provide a complete architecture education for free…including online virtual design studio...it was started by a design firm from Canada I think…there you will find all the info you need….like how to decide..What you should know and what to except, and even how to become a successful architect...Etc…
